Despite a partial easing of restrictions imposed by the government to curb the spread of the COVID-19 epidemic, regular movie theatres remain closed.

In the southern Silesia region, drivers have been able to attend a drive-in cinema in the town of Sosnowiec, while in nearby Chorzów viewers were able to enjoy a free screening of the romantic musical film La La Land on Sunday evening, all from the comfort of their own cars.

Drive-in cinemas first became popular in Poland in the 1990s, Polish Radio added.

A total of 21,326 people have tested positive for the COVID-19 disease in Poland, with 996 deaths from the coronavirus so far, officials said on Sunday afternoon.

Some coronavirus restrictions were relaxed last month, while hairdressers, restaurants, bars and cafes were allowed to reopen last week.
