The two countries on Wednesday signed a bilateral cooperation agreement in which they pledged to pursue a range of joint cultural projects despite the coronavirus pandemic.

Poland’s Deputy Prime Minister and Culture Minister Piotr Gliński said at the signing ceremony that the two European Union members shared “long-standing bonds of friendship” and “the experience of a struggle to preserve our national identity and independence.”

He voiced hope that the new cooperation agreement to 2023 would result in “many new cultural initiatives” bringing the two countries even closer together.
