The movie is directed by Oscar nominee Dorota Kobiela and produced with the same hand-painted technique that dramatically brought the canvases of Vincent van Gogh to life in “Loving Vincent,” the film Kobiela co-directed with Hugh Welchman.
The script to Reymont's four part novel, which depicts the rural lifestyle and social conventions of a small Polish peasant community, with each instalment representing a different season of the year, was co-written by Kobiela and Welchman.
