Beczała received the accolade in the Best Solo Album of the Year category for the CD Vincerò!

Recorded for the Pentatone label with the Orquestra de la Comunitat Valenciana, conducted by Marco Boemi, the CD features a selection of arias by Puccini, Mascagni, Leoncavallo, Giordano and Cilea.

The oper-awards.com website wrote: “What a voice! With his solo album Vincerò!, Beczała ... again stakes a claim to the throne of tenors.

"Exciting in his high registers that have become ever more free and assured in recent years, with a beautiful, glistening tear in the right moments. He shines with exemplary technique and well-tempered expression rather than high-pressure emotions in this verismo repertoire.

"Vincerò! is another successful step towards more dramatic parts in Beczała’s intelligently managed career.”

Beczała has been honoured by Oper Magazin for the second consecutive year. In 2019, he was named Best Singer.
