87 pianists confirmed for 18th Int’l Chopin Competition in Warsaw

Eighty-seven pianists, including 78 successful qualifiers, will vie for awards at the 18th International Chopin Competition, which is due to take place in Warsaw in October, organizers have announced.

Almost 160 pianists from across the world this month took part in a 12-day qualifying stage in which they were evaluated by an international panel of judges.

Seventy-eight contestants emerged victorious from that preliminary round.

Meanwhile, nine pianists with prizes from other major international piano competitions have been selected without having to go through the preliminaries.
