The work, collectively entitled Crowd III, was sold at the Desa Unicum auction house in the Polish capital on Thursday, state news agency PAP reported.

Before the auction, experts said Crowd III was worth anywhere between PLN 12 million and PLN 18 million.

Abakanowicz, who died in 2017 at the age of 86, was famous worldwide for her works including spatial compositions called “abakans.”

In a previous record sale on the Polish art market, her Caminando installation was auctioned off for PLN 8 million in October 2019.
