Premiered in November 2020, the film is directed by Jan P. Matuszyński and based on a highly acclaimed novel by Polish writer Szczepan Twardoch.

Its English translation, by Sean Gasper Bye, published by Amazon Crossing, has won rave reviews from international critics and literary journals.

The plot of the novel is set shortly before the outbreak of World War II. Its main protagonist is boxer Jakub Szapiro, who is revered as a hero of the Jewish community in the Polish capital.

The C21 International Drama Awards are set to recognise the best in global scripted creativity. They are judged by more than 100 of the world’s leading drama commissioners and buyers.

The first edition of The King of Warsaw, published in Poland in 2016, has sold over 100,000 copies.
