Szczepan Edward Kurzeja earned an honourable mention for his work entitled Home Sweet Home (Forty Years Ago).
He wrote in a note: “Concrete estates are urban deserts. After some time we stop feeling comfortable in them. Huge, sad, grey blocks of apartments, stretching endlessly, are not an ideal place to live. But for some time now some time we can see changes in the approach to the way of building and shaping space.”
Krzysztof Maćkowiak was recognized for his photo New York Reflection(s), while Sebastian Piórek was singled out for praise for Surface Disturbances, depicting a part of the Kamppi Chapel in the centre of Helsinki, Finland, as an unique example of modern wooden architecture.
Żaneta Gabriel won praise for her photo entitled Past and Present, which she took in her hometown of Gdańsk in northern Poland and which presents the city's 13th-century Church of Saint Catherine in the foreground and blocks of flats from the communist era right behind.
The goal of the MonoVisions Photography Awards is to discover the best monochrome photographers from all over the world.
The competition is open to photographers of all backgrounds and all levels, both professionals and amateurs, using traditional or digital methods.
All the Polish photographers won the honours in the Architecture category.
