Last month Polish vocalist Marta Złakowska, released a teaser track "Out The Way", which is also the title of a forthcoming sophomore album she prepared with her long-time collaborator Tricky - a visionary musician best known as a member of UK trip-hop legends Massive Attack.

On July 11th a second single "Leave The Lights" followed - and soon after Tricky informed on social media that the option to preorder the digital version of Marta's new LP from his label False Idols is now live. The release date is scheduled for October 3rd, 2025.

Poland's Marta Złakowska and Tricky have been working together since their surprise joint performance in November 2017, when the Massive Attack legend asked the organizers of his concert in southern Poland's Kraków to help him find an emergency guest vocalist to support his performance.

Marta, who trained in classical and jazz vocal performance - was working in Kraków's bars at the time. “I was between shifts and out of nowhere my friend who worked at a radio station called and asked if I wanted to sing with Tricky" - she recalled. "He said: come in an hour for soundcheck. Next thing I know - I’m in a taxi, speedily learning the vocals of Martina Topley-Bird to sing her part in 'When We Die'".

Marta's first on-stage meeting with Tricky worked so well, that the legendary musician invited her to join him on an international tour, and soon after - they started working together in the studio on creating new music together.

Marta's voice enriched Tricky’s "Maxinquaye Reincarnated" EP and Lee Scratch Perry’s last album "King Perry". On Tricky’s 14th studio album, "Fall to Pieces", Marta started to receive her own critical acclaim - The Guardian noted that “Złakowska’s coolly delicate voice is the glue to piece him together again (and) counter the producer’s darker impulses”, while CLASH reported that Marta played “a significant role in shaping the sound and feel of the album (and her) feathery voice makes the hair stand on end”.

Nearly six-years after they first met in Poland, in 2023 Marta & Tricky's 19-minute joint mini-album "When It's Going Wrong" was published. In a positive review, Pitchfork described it as a "well-developed debut that does a lot with very little".

Now, as a fully-fledged LP, "Out The Way" will aim to establish the Polish vocalists' name on the map for good.
