Thirty-five percent of Poles do not give tips, while two out of five always look for free parking spaces, public broadcaster Polish Radio has reported, citing a study by BIG InfoMonitor, a firm that collects data about debt.
Economist Marek Zuber said Poland was still a poor country by European standards.
He told Polish Radio that average wages have grown 30 percent in Poland over the last five years and are now well over 1,000 euros a month, but Poland is still the fifth- or sixth-poorest country in the 28-nation European Union.
Zuber added: “A large portion of Polish society doesn’t have much money left at the end of every month.”
Polish Radio reported that the study also found that Poles are generous when hosting friends and family, and tend to splash out on such occasions.
