Presenting the awards at a ceremony in Warsaw on Monday, President Andrzej Duda said the winners stood out in their innovativeness and ideas enabling them to expand on international markets.

The winners included a firm called Syntoil that has developed technology for recycling old tyres and a hi-tech waste recycling solution provider called Handerek Technologies, public broadcaster Polish Radio’s IAR news agency reported.

Among those singled out for praise was also Challenge Rocket, a firm that has designed an employee recruitment platform based on artificial intelligence, according to the IAR news agency.

The presidential awards were given out to outstanding start-ups for the fifth time.

The prizewinners will be able to take part in an international business mission financed by the government-run Polish Investment and Trade Agency.
