A group of 30 Polish nationals were evacuated from the Chinese city of Wuhan earlier this month and taken to a hospital in Wrocław, southwestern Poland.

None of the samples collected from the 30 patients, who were flown from China's Hubei province to France and then brought to Poland’s Wrocław on Monday, “has shown the presence of the coronavirus,” Polish Deputy Health Minister Waldemar Kraska told reporters on Wednesday.

He added that the patients would undergo more tests at the end of the week.

"They are in good health and showing no signs of infection, according to what we know at this point," Kraska said.

Five other people suspected to be infected with the coronavirus were in hospital in Poland, while a total of 480 were being monitored by the health service, public broadcaster Polish Radio’s IAR news agency reported.

Meanwhile, the global death toll from the fast-spreading virus has risen to nearly 500, most in and around the locked-down central Chinese city of Wuhan, where the virus emerged late last year, the Reuters news agency reported.
