Left wing Przemysław Krajewski scored seven goals to lead the Polish team to the 29-20 win in the Slovak capital Bratislava on Sunday night.

Poland line player Kamil Syprzak said after the match: “I am proud of the job we did tonight. It was a great match for us and very important win. We knew it’s not going to be easy playing against Belarus. They have tried different tactics, however, we had an answer to it. We tried to be strong in defence and they couldn’t deal with it."

In their first game at the tournament, Poland on Friday beat Austria 36-31, with seven goals from right wing Arkadiusz Moryto.

The Poles will next face off against Germany in the preliminary round of the championships on Tuesday, with both teams having already secured a berth in the main round.

Twenty-four European teams, including defending champions Spain, are competing in the event co-hosted by Hungary and Slovakia until January 30.
