The Polish world No. 1 on Thursday defeated the Dutch qualifier 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 in their second-round women's singles match at the grass-court Grand Slam tournament in the British capital, extending her winning streak to 37 matches.

The Pole will next face Alizé Cornet of France.

The Polish player earlier this month won the French Open for the second time after defeating Coco Gauff of the United States in the final.

Świątek last month won the Italian Open clay-court tournament in Rome, defending her crown and claiming her eighth career singles title.

The 21-year-old, coached by countryman Tomasz Wiktorowski, in early April took over as the new number one in women's tennis, becoming the first Pole to top the world rankings.

Świątek in 2018 won the Girls' Singles title at Wimbledon.
