EU spokesman Eric Mamer wrote in a Twitter post that the meeting would take place ahead of Saturday's "Stand Up for Ukraine" humanitarian pledging event in Warsaw.

According to the EU, the aim of the Warsaw event is to “raise funding and other types of support to cater for the needs of internally displaced people in Ukraine and of refugees.”

The fundraiser is being organised as an initiative by the EU’s von der Leyen and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, “in partnership with international advocacy organisation Global Citizen.”
