Andrzej Duda made the call at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, public broadcaster Polish Radio’s IAR news agency reported.
‘World is threatened by plans of further Russian aggression’
The Polish president told the prestigious annual event that “coming together in support of a nation that is fighting for freedom is a shared cause for the entire world.”
He added that the world was “threatened by plans of further Russian expansion.”
Duda also said that Poland would never support any concessions to Russia that had been suggested by some Western leaders as a means of bringing the war to an end.
‘I cannot accept Russia murdering people’
He went on to say:
“Ladies and gentlemen, I simply cannot accept, also as a neighbour to Russia, that Russia violates the rules of international law with impunity. I cannot accept Russia murdering people.”
The president added: “I cannot accept that the world just turns a blind eye to that, without any consequences vis-à-vis murderers."
Danger of food shortages, migration problems
Duda also warned that Russia’s war on Ukraine could lead to a food crisis and migration problems, the Reuters news agency reported.
"If it turns out that there is hunger in North Africa... both Spain and the whole of southern Europe will have a huge migration problem," the Polish head of state told a panel in Davos. "Today we should focus on Ukraine being able to export its grain," he added.
Later on Tuesday, Duda was scheduled to meet with Montenegro’s Prime Minister Dritan Abazović and the president of the International Committee of the Red Cross, Peter Maurer, as well as take part in a panel discussion with the Latvian head of state Egils Levits and Estonia’s Alar Karis, among other meetings.
Tuesday is day 90 of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
