Henry Kissinger made his remarks on Monday in Davos, saying that the best way forward for peace would be for Ukraine to accept the "status quo ante".

This would mean that Russia would withdraw from territories occupied in 2022, but keep territories occupied earlier.

Even before Zelensky's response this provoked a meda storm.

Zelensky responded that Kissinger's "calendar seemed to be set for 1938 and not 2022" and that he had mistaken his location as "Munich and not Davos".

The Ukrainian president continued: "Various great geopoliticians have failed to notice the fates of ordinary people. They do not see the Ukrainian people living in the territories which these (experts) would like to exchange for the illusion of peace with Russia."
