Ambassador Sergei Andreev was expected to arrive at the Polish foreign ministry building in Warsaw at 11 a.m., state news agency PAP reported.
Officials were set to inform Andreev about “Poland’s refusal to recognise Russia’s pseudo-referenda in Ukraine and the Kremlin’s attempt to incorporate parts of Ukrainian territory into Russia,” Deputy Foreign Minister Marcin Przydacz said, as cited by the PAP news agency.
Poland last week condemned Russia's annexation of four Ukrainian regions and called for increased military support for Kyiv and more efforts to isolate Russia internationally over its invasion of Ukraine.
The Polish foreign ministry said in a statement that it "condemns in the strongest terms the illegal acts of 'recognition of independence' and 'incorporation' into the Russian Federation of parts of Ukraine’s regions of Kherson, Donetsk, Luhansk and Zaporizhzhia."
It added the "Ukrainian regions of Kherson, Donetsk, Luhansk and Zaporizhzhia constitute an integral part of Ukraine in accordance with international law."
Przydacz told reporters on Friday that Poland refused to recognise Putin’s annexation of the four Ukrainian regions as “incompatible with the norms of international law.”
Earlier that day, Putin signed documents to incorporate the four regions of Ukraine into Russia at a televised ceremony in the Kremlin.
The move came after Russia held what it called referendums in occupied areas of Ukraine and declared the annexation of the Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions.
Monday is day 222 of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
