The survey was conducted by a consortium of pollsters, including Poland’s IBRIS, in Austria, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal and Spain, Polish state news agency PAP has reported.

When asked which EU country provided the most help to war refugees from Ukraine, the biggest proportion of respondents, 29 percent, mentioned Poland.

Meanwhile, 13.4 percent of those asked listed Germany and 11.2 percent mentioned Italy, according to IBRIS.

About a third of respondents, 31.4 percent, replied “I don’t know/It’s difficult to say.”

Poland’s support for Ukrainian refugees was especially highly rated by respondents in the Netherlands (42.1 percent), Italy (39.1 percent), Greece (36.9 percent), Portugal (36.3 percent) and France (29.7 percent).

“The help offered to war refugees from Ukraine can be regarded as the most positive international campaign that Poland has carried out since the fall of communism,” IBRIS’s CEO Marcin Duma said.

The poll was carried out in late November and early December through computer-assisted telephone interviews and computer-assisted web interviews with 1,000 adult citizens per country.

The nine countries included in the survey account for 75 percent of the EU's population, the PAP news agency reported.

Tuesday is day 328 of Russia’s war against Ukraine.
