In the video, the soldiers recite a piece of verse by a fellow Ukrainian serviceman and musician, Pavlo Vyshebaba, the niezalezna.pl website said on Tuesday.

Entitled To My Daughter, the poem uses simple words to express a longing for peace in the homeland. The author urges his daughter to celebrate the happy moments of the past, niezalezna.pl reported.

Turning to the future, the author tells his daughter, one of the thousands of Ukrainian children who found a safe haven abroad, many of them in Poland:

Before you come back to Ukraine

Invite every person you meet

We will show everybody after the war

How grateful we are for our children’s peace

As they recite the lines, Ukrainian soldiers show photographs of their own children, reinforcing the poem’s message.

Tuesday is day 167 of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
