Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has thanked the United States for imposing another package of sanctions on Russia. The restrictions are aimed at the Russian energy sector and target Moscow's evasion of the previous embargo. The sanctions cover hundreds of people and entities - and the US Department of State announced that the list of restrictions has been expanded by 130 items.

In his evening video speech, Zelensky noted that American sanctions already cover over 220 Russian - and not only - entities taking part in aggression against his country:

"This is what's necessary - to hit the key sectors of the aggressor's economy, the areas that are important to the terrorists. Any sanctions solution must work fully - so that Russia has no chance to circumvent the restrictions. The power of sanctions is the power of the world. To this end, we are in constant dialogue with our partners - for the united world to become stronger."

Washington's new sanctions cover dozens of Russian companies producing and importing industrial machinery and tools. The restrictions also apply to banks supporting the arms industry. The US government also imposed embargo on a company involved in the development and operation of a huge project in Siberia called Arctic-2 LNG, which is intended to transport liquefied natural gas.

The US administration also added dozens of Russian companies supporting the Russian military with drones to the sanctions list. This also covered companies from the United Arab Emirates, Turkey and China that helped Russia circumvent previous restrictions.
