The competition was taking place at Szczyrk's 104-metre Skalite Hill on Wednesday.

40 out of 50 ski jumpers managed to make their first-round jumps before organisers had to cancel the event due to strong wind.

At that point, Poland's Dawid Kubacki topped the ranking after a jump of 98.5m (117.2 points).

Three more Poles were in the top 10, with Kamil Stoch third (99m, 116 points), Piotr Żyła fifth (99m, 113.5 points) and Paweł Wąsek ninth (95.5m, 110.4points), according to FIS.

Wednesday's event in Szczyrk was the third of five FIS World Cup events taking place in Poland over nine days in January.

Last weekend, Wisła hosted a doubles event and an individual competition.

Meanwhile, a team event will take place this coming Saturday, followed by an individual contest on Sunday, both at Zakopane.

The competitions are part of the 2023/24 ski jumping World Cup, which comprises 38 contests, including 32 individual events, in various countries.

Polish ski jumpers finished fourth last World Cup season as a team, behind Austria, Norway and Slovenia.

Meanwhile, Poland's Dawid Kubacki finished fourth in the overall World Cup standings on an individual basis.
