Moniuszko's ‘Haunted Manor’: new take on old Polish favourite 

Stanisław Moniuszko's opera “The Haunted Manor” is a mostly light-hearted, romantic comedy with strongly patriotic undertones – that is the way it is usually interpreted by Polish music theatres and audiences.

But now the Poznań Opera in western Poland, which already has in its repertoire a striking production of the composer's Halka and also an extraordinary and much-awarded production of his Paria, is now presenting a new vantage on the old favourite.
