Świątek powers into Rome finals, defeats Coco Gauff

World number one Iga Świątek continues her dominance on the clay courts of Rome, securing her spot in the final of the WTA 1000 tournament with an impressive victory over third-seeded American Coco Gauff.

The Polish tennis star clinched the match 6:4, 6:3 in a tightly contested semi-final that lasted 1 hour and 48 minutes.

This win marks Świątek’s tenth victory over Gauff in eleven encounters. Her progression to the final keeps her on track to claim her third consecutive trophy in the Italian capital, mirroring her triumphs in 2021 and 2022.

Świątek is set on Saturday to face the winner of the semi-final clash between Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka, the world's second-ranked player, and American Danielle Collins, ranked thirteenth.
