Radosław Sikorski, Poland's foreign minister, has nominated Tomasz Chłoń to the position of Foreign Ministry Representative for Counteracting International Misinformation.

The announcement on the FM website emphasizes the importance of this role at a time when manipulation of information represents a systematic threat to democracy.

Russia's large-scale interest in mass-media manipulation has already been the subject of US congressional hearings and academic studies, such as Jessikka Aro's book "Putin’s Trolls: On the Frontlines of Russia’s Information War Against the World".

Closer to home, the current Polish opposition, headed by Law and Justice, is known for its focus and expenditure on internet marketing.
