Billed as the largest business event in Central Europe, the annual European Economic Congress in Katowice explores key economic challenges in Poland, Europe and the wider world.

This year the key focus is European security in the wake of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, as well as new ideas to boost economies and ensure a fair transition across the European Union, according to organizers.

Expected guests include European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and a contingent of Polish government officials led by Prime Minister Donald Tusk.

The debates will explore various issues in business and technology, including energy transformation.

The conference, which is now in its 16th year and runs until Thursday, will be accompanied by European Tech and Start-Up Days, an event aiming to support hi-tech business start-ups.
