Following a Russian missile attack on the Ukrainian port city of Odessa on Friday, in which over 20 people were killed and 70 injured, Donald Tusk took to X on Saturday to call on Speaker Mike Johnson to vote an urgently-needed USD 60 billion aid programme for Ukraine.

"Look at Odessa”, Tusk wrote, tagging Johnson.

“How many more arguments do you need to take a decision?", he added.

The package, which has already been passed by the Senate, has been stuck in the House as Johnson refuses to put it to a vote despite apparent support for the bill in the US lower house.

Johnson, a Republican, insists that he will not be “rushed” into approving the USD 95.3 billion foreign aid package for Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan, of which Ukraine is planned to receive USD 60 billion.

Earlier this week, Tusk warned the U.S. official that “the fate of millions of people” and “thousands of lives” depends on whether the Republican allows a vote on the military aid to Kyiv.

This is the first U.S. package since last December.

The U.S. earlier pledged a defense aid package of weapons and equipment for Ukraine worth USD 300 million.
