Chopin competition: Fans, critics weigh in

Fans and critics have weighed in on the verdict in the 18th International Chopin Piano Competition, which ended in Warsaw last week.

This year's competition was unique largely because of the incredibly high standards of the participants, experts have said.

The international jury, composed of 17 outstanding personalities from the world of music, took a long time in announcing the final verdict…

Even though most critics and music lovers acknowledged the brilliant talent of the 24-year-old winner, Bruce (Xiaoyu) Liu of Canada, there are still voices that some of the pianists were not given due credit.

Monika Pilch asked Australian writer and classical musician Michael Moran, who followed the competition from the very beginning, for his opinion.
