The latest figures were published by the General Staff of Ukraine’s Armed Forces, Britain’s The Guardian newspaper reported.
According to Ukraine’s military command, Russia’s troop losses over the previous 24 hours totalled 1,030 soldiers, bringing the overall tally of military dead to 133,190.
At the same time, Russian forces also lost 14 tanks, 28 armoured personnel vehicles and one artillery system, Ukraine’s General Staff said.
‘Close-contact trench warfare’
Besides the figures, Ukrainian officials have provided few details of the latest battles, the Reuters news agency reported.
However, the assessment that the combat was the deadliest so far, ties in with reports from both sides that the war has turned into an escalating campaign of close-contact trench warfare, according to Reuters.
As a result, the battlefields of eastern Ukraine have been left littered with corpses, as Russia continues its winter assault with tens of thousands of newly mobilised soldiers, news outlets reported.
Tuesday is day 349 of Russia’s war against Ukraine.
