Meanwhile, 17 percent hold the opposite view, Polish state news agency PAP reported on Friday, citing a poll by researcher CBOS.

The remainder are undecided, it said.

In the study, 59 percent of respondents said that the benefits of Poland's EU membership outweighed the costs.

Meanwhile, 21 percent of those surveyed believe the reverse to be true, the PAP news agency reported.

The survey was conducted between March 7 and 17 on a sample of 1,089 adult respondents using a combination of several interviewing methods.

Poland has been a member of the EU since May 1, 2004.
