The unusual scene unfolded near the village of Bogaczewo, where the two-humped creature, more commonly seen in the deserts of North Africa and the Middle East, made an unexpected appearance.
It was revealed that the camel had managed to escape from a nearby private minizoo, sparking a frantic search by the police to track it down. Despite their efforts, the elusive animal initially evaded capture.
One driver managed to capture the surreal moment, snapping a photo as the camel calmly made its way toward the village of Strzelce.
"We received two reports of an exotic animal walking along the road, but police officers who arrived on the spot could not find the camel," explained Iwona Chruścińska of the Giżycko District Police Station, speaking to the Polish daily Fakt.
However, this wasn't the first time the police had dealt with such an escapade. Chruścińska revealed that a few years ago, there was a similar incident involving a kangaroo on the loose from the minizoo.
Thankfully, the camel's adventure came to an end later on the same day when it was safely returned to its enclosure, with the owner assuring authorities that they would be keeping a closer eye on their furry escape artist in the future.
