Tennis: Poland's Hurkacz makes the 4th round at Madrid Open

The Pole, ranked 9th globally, won his second match in this year's ATP 1000 tournament in Madrid and advanced to the 1/8 finals of this event.

In the third round match, Poland's top men's player triumphed against Germany's Daniel Altmaier (ATP 61st) 6:4, 7:6 (7-2).

By going through to the 4th round, Hurkacz improved his last year's result, and he needs one more win to equal his personal best - the quarterfinals of 2022. His next opponent will be the American Taylor Fritz (13th in the ATP charts), who eliminated Argentine's Sebastian Baez (ranked 19th) winning 6-2, 6-3 in their 3rd round game.

This year's edition of the men's tournament is its 22nd instalment on the ATP Tour, and it is scheduled to continue till May 5, 2024.
