The Operational Command of Poland's Armed Forces said in a statement that "all necessary procedures have been initiated to ensure the safety of Polish airspace."
It added that it was "monitoring the situation on an ongoing basis."
The statement also said that Polish and allied aircraft were activated early on Friday, cautioning the public of "increased noise levels, particularly in the southeast of the country," in areas across the border from Ukraine.
The alert was in effect for about two hours, news outlets reported.
Russia launched a fresh wave of missile strikes on Ukraine in the early hours of Friday, targeting the country's energy infrastructure, according to officials.
In the central Ukrainian city of Kryvyi Rih, the Russian attack damaged infrastructure and injured three people, a local official said.
In the city of Dnipro, at least two people were killed and 15 others were wounded after a Russian missile hit a residential building, the head of the regional military administration, Serhiy Lysak, said, as cited by Ukrainian state news agency Ukrinform.
The General Staff of Ukraine’s Armed Forces said that Russia "launched 11 missile attacks and 78 airstrikes, as well as 82 rocket salvos, on the Ukrainian positions and at populated areas" overnight.
"A number of residential buildings and civil infrastructure objects were affected and civilian casualties were reported," it added, as cited by Ukrinform.
Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, starting the largest armed conflict in Europe since World War II.
Friday is day 786 of Russia’s war on Ukraine.
