The game was played in Krynica-Zdrój, southern Poland, as the Polish team prepares for the elite world championships in the Czech Republic next month.

In May last year, Poland earned promotion to the top tier of men's ice hockey after finishing runner-up at the Men’s World Championship Division IA in Nottingham.

Poland are returning to the elite pool after a hiatus of more than two decades, Polish state news agency PAP reported.

Poland will face off against the likes of the United States, Sweden, France and Germany at the IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship, which will be held in the Czech Republic from May 10 to 26.

The Polish team is ranked 22nd in the world by the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF).

Poland and Hungary are set to play another friendly game at the same venue on Saturday, the PAP news agency reported.
