Speaking in an interview with US broadcaster CNN on Thursday, Radosław Sikorski said Russia was committing a war crime because "it is forbidden to attack civilian infrastructure."

Sikorski added that Ukraine was running out of missiles for its air defence systems, which could exacerbate the humanitarian situation there.

The Polish foreign minister criticised the US Congress for a prolonged delay in deciding on assistance to Ukraine, the Ukrainska Pravda website reported

Sikorski emphasised that Kyiv has long been requesting the unlocking of US aid, noting that additional US funding to support Ukraine has been awaiting Congressional approval for months.

"Now we have the result," he said. "One after another, Ukrainian power stations are being destroyed. Soon, Ukrainian cities will be out of electricity. I expect it to become a wave of refugees."

Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, starting the largest armed conflict in Europe since World War II.

Friday is day 779 of Russias war on Ukraine.
