Polish police hunt for abducted boy

Polish police are searching for a 10-year-old boy who officers say was abducted by his father on Sunday in Gdynia, northern Poland.

According to officers, the child was taken from in front of a block of flats in the city in the evening.

The boy, named Ibrahim, and his mother were reportedly coming home from the child's birthday party when his father, Azeddine Oudriss, allegedly assaulted the woman and pulled the boy by force into a car.

Oudriss, a Moroccan national, then fled the scene in a silver estate car, according to reports.

It has also been reported that Oudriss had earlier lost his parental rights.

According to the police, the missing boy is 150 cm tall, with brown hair and brown eyes. He was wearing an orange anorak, a white Donald Duck sweatshirt, jeans and black sports shoes.

The alleged abductor is 185 cm tall, muscular and could be dangerous, police have warned.

Police have set in motion the Child Alert mechanism, which disseminates information about missing children.
