The death toll was 258 fewer than in 2020, Robert Opas from the country’s General Police Headquarters (KGP) was quoted as saying on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the number of those injured decreased by 50, and the number of road accidents fell by 738 from a year earlier, Opas said, as cited by state news agency PAP.
The final figures for 2021 are expected to be released next month.
Stricter traffic rules and tougher fines took effect in the country at the start of this year as part of efforts to improve road safety.
Under the new rules, the maximum fine for traffic offenses went up from PLN 5,000 (EUR 1,080, USD 1,215) to PLN 30,000 (EUR 6,500, USD 7,300) on January 1.
Meanwhile, drivers failing to respect pedestrians at crosswalks now face a fine of no less than PLN 3,000.
Those breaking the speed limit by more than 30 kph are subject to a minimum fine of PLN 800.
