The developments were announced by Science Minister Dariusz Wieczorek at a conference on Wednesday where he introduced four new deputy science ministers in the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, the country’s revived administration office which has been fused with the Ministry of Education and Science since 2020.

The new deputy ministers include State Secretary professor Marek Gzik and Undersecretaries of State professors Maria Mrówczyńska, Andrzej Szeptycki, and Marek Gdula.

Minister Wieczorek, addressing the media, stated: "We are fulfilling election promises. 30 percent raises for all employees of Polish universities, academics - and 20 percent raises for administration in all Polish universities." He also emphasized the government's commitment to funding these increases and enhancing the working conditions of scientific and academic staff.

Moreover, the ministry is also focusing on improving student living conditions by allocating PLN 150 million (USD 38 million) for dormitory reconstruction and renovation. The Polish Academy of Sciences is also set to receive an additional PLN 180 million (USD 46 million) in funding, marking a significant boost after years of stagnant budgets.

Additionally, the new ministry plans to conduct an audit of medical universities established by the previous government. This scrutiny comes amid concerns raised by medical professionals regarding these institutions, state news agency PAP has reported.
