The military drills are taking place in the Lithuanian region of Alytus, where both leaders on Friday will witness firsthand the operational capabilities demonstrated in the maneuvers.

The "Brave Griffin" exercises, which started on Sunday, involve forces from the United States and Portugal. The aim is to test defensive strategies in the strategically critical Suwałki Gap area on the Polish-Lithuanian border.

Following their visit to the training ground, the two presidents will engage in plenary talks with their respective delegations, focusing on NATO's eastern flank security, the Suwałki Gap, and strengthening Polish-Lithuanian cooperation.

The two leaders will then hold a joint press conference.

In the afternoon, Duda and Nausėda will shift their focus to broader European matters at "The Idea of Europe Forum" conference held at Vytautas Magnus University in Kaunas.

According to Jacek Siewiera, head of the Polish president's National Security Bureau (BBN), the conference will not only discuss security but will also kick off the 20th anniversary celebrations of Poland and nine other countries' accession to the EU.

Duda is scheduled to return to Poland on Friday evening.

The Brave Griffin 24/II exercises, which run for a week in areas around Druskininkai, Alytus and Varėna, have drawn significant attention for their scale and the involvement of international forces, with 1,500 soldiers and nearly 200 units of military equipment participating.
