Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz made the declaration in Warsaw on Monday, public broadcaster Polish Radio’s IAR news agency reported.
He said his party sought to form a coalition government with the Civic Coalition (KO), the New Left, Poland 2050 and the Yes! For Poland (TDP) local government movement, its allies in the successful race for the Senate, the upper house of parliament, on October 15.
Kosiniak-Kamysz told reporters: “That’s the mandate I have received, to represent PSL in these negotiations.”
He added that his party was determined “to ensure the new government is formed as soon as possible.”
Kosiniak-Kamysz said: “The Polish people have decided whom to give power to and what policies they want to see delivered.”
He thanked voters for supporting his party in the October 15 parliamentary elections and said its electoral alliance with the centre-right Poland 2050 grouping “has worked and will continue.”
Kosiniak-Kamysz said the Third Way alliance was determined to deliver its "12 policy pledges for entrepreneurs, for workers, and for local communities.”
“Equalising opportunities, fostering development and education will be our main task,” he added.
The politician declared that the Third Way alliance would help “focus efforts on the economy, restore the public’s respect and trust for the state and make citizens work together for Poland.”
Kosiniak-Kamysz called on President Andrzej Duda to “convene the first session of the new parliament as soon as possible” to ensure that a new government takes over by Poland’s Independence Day on November 11, state news agency PAP reported.
Poland's ruling conservatives won the country's October 15 election, but lost a parliamentary majority, increasing the likelihood of an opposition government.
