The agreement set to be approved by the two leaders includes details of a planned increase in the US military presence in Poland and names sites for the stationing of American troops in Poland, Krzysztof Szczerski, chief of staff to the Polish president, has said.

The document confirms that a US division headquarters will be established in Poland, Szczerski told reporters ahead of the signing.

The United States pledged to deploy around 1,000 extra troops to Poland, a staunch military ally fearful of Russia, under a declaration signed by the Polish and US presidents at the White House in June.

Around 4,500 rotating American troops are already stationed in the country on average as part of a NATO force.

Szczerski told reporters on Sunday that the meeting next day between Duda and Trump on the sidelines of a United Nations gathering in New York would mark their ninth during their terms of office.

Duda and Trump are also expected to discuss business and "social relations" between Poland and the United States, including a plan to abolish visas for Poles traveling to America, when they hold bilateral talks in New York on Monday, according to Szczerski.

He told reporters that Poland was interested in translating its “strategic security partnership” with America “into a strategic business partnership” to encourage more American investment in sectors such as new technology, cybersecurity and IT.

Szczerski added that the two presidents were also expected to talk about the "energy partnership" between their countries.
