Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki tweeted on Sunday that “Poland will share its experience, manpower and vaccines with the civilian and military staff of NATO HQ in Brussels.”
He added: “We are ready to provide support in order to ensure operational continuity of NATO HQ; it is in the interest of our common security.”
NATO chief Jens Stoltenberg voiced gratitude to Poland and its prime minister in a tweet.
“I am grateful to Poland and PM Mateusz Morawiecki for readiness to support COVID-19 vaccination at NATO HQ,” Stoltenberg said.
“Solidarity and resilience are at the heart of NATO,” he added.
Stoltenberg also said in his Twitter post that “Poland is a strong Ally who has provided support to many other Allies and partners in our joint fight against the pandemic.”
Morawiecki’s chief of staff, Michał Dworczyk, told reporters that the 20-plus-strong Polish team would travel to Brussels on Thursday to vaccinate some 3,500 NATO HQ staff, using AstraZeneca shots from Poland’s own supplies.
