Russia committed 417 crimes against Ukrainian cultural heritage: officials

Russia committed at least 417 crimes against Ukrainian cultural heritage, since the beginning of the war, Ukraine’s Culture and Information Policy Ministry announced on Friday.

The ministry also said more reports of such crimes are still being analysed by its experts.

All the instances are catalogued and published at www.culturecrimes.mkip.gov.ua.

The Ministry stressed that destroying cultural heritage sites is a war crime under the 1954 Hague convention.

Ukrainian officials also urged the country’s citizens to document all instances of such crimes.
