Mateusz Morawiecki made the remark at the Economic Forum in the southwestern Polish city of Karpacz on Tuesday, state news agency PAP reported.

The Polish PM took part in a discussion panel entitled “Europe in the face of new challenges,” alongside his Czech counterpart Petr Fiala

Earlier, the two PMs met for private talks in Karpacz.

Poland, Czech Republic 'on the same wavelength'

During the panel, Morawiecki told the audience that Poland and the Czech Republic “are capable of being on the same wavelength” in geopolitical matters.

He added: “We are at a turning point in world geopolitics, so what counts is the common voice of those who were right.”

“Together with PM Fiala, we have repeatedly warned against threats,” the Polish PM stressed.

“Such consistency in our statements is fundamentally important and I would like to thank you for this, Petr,” Morawiecki told the Czech head of government.

Support for Ukraine

“Today we are focusing on what’s most important, namely efficient support for Ukraine,” the Polish PM said.

He stressed that Ukraine needed “not just military and humanitarian assistance” but also “financial support” to be able to pay public sector workers, including “soldiers, policemen, nurses and doctors.”

Morawiecki also noted that Poland and the Czech Republic were effective in putting pressure on Western European partners, “especially the European Commission” to change policy in the face of Russia’s assault on Ukraine, the PAP news agency reported.

The Polish PM said: “A certain version of the energy policy has fallen and now we are building a new one.”

“I spoke with PM Fiala about what tools should be used to recreate European Union policy together,” Morawiecki stated, adding: “Today, thanks to the strength of our common voice, these opinions are heard loud and clear.”

The Polish PM said: “because we have achieved unity in the Visegrad Group, and also with the Baltic states, Romania, Bulgaria and Croatia, the strength of the voice of Central Europe is much bigger than five or ten years ago.”

“I would like to thank PM Fiala and the Czech Republic for this turn in geopolitics,” Morawiecki stressed.

Tuesday was day 195 of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
