The reopening ceremonies, presided over by the Archbishop of Paris, will take place late in the afternoon, in the presence of French President Emmanuel Macron, officials, donors, and representatives of all the parishes of the French capital.
The inaugural Mass, with the consecration of the high altar, will take place on Sunday, with President Macron also in attendance.
The reopening of the Cathedral comes five years after a devastating fire that destroyed much of the building.
There are plans for a Polish ceremony at the reconstructed Cathedral, most probably to be held next year, on May 3, Poland’s Constitution Day. The event is to take place in the Polish chapel, which contains a copy of the icon of the image of Our Lady of Częstochowa, known as the Black Madonna, and the relics of Saint John Paul II, both of which survived the fire.
