Witold Dzielski made the remark in an interview with Polish state news agency PAP, which was published on Friday.

The diplomat said: “The outbreak of war in Ukraine has led to the intensification of bilateral relations between Poland and Canada.”

Dzielski noted that Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau visited Poland following the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

‘Many areas of Polish-Canadian cooperation’

“There are many areas of cooperation - from Canada’s increasing military presence on the eastern flank of NATO to its assistance to Ukraine, including shipments of lethal weapons,” the ambassador stated.

Asked if Poland contributed to Canada’s decision to send arms to Ukraine, Dzielski replied: “This was the topic of the meeting between Polish President Andrzej Duda and PM Trudeau.”

The ambassador also noted that Canadians chose Poland as the most positively regarded foreign country in a recent survey.

Friday is day 107 of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
