The Pengab index, which measures banking sentiment in the country, plunged into negative territory of “minus 31.9 points” in March, down by 52.1 points from February, the Polish Bank Association (ZBP) and market researcher Kantar TNS have said in a joint report.
Kantar TNS’s Marcin Idzik was quoted as saying that the latest level of the index reflected concerns among bank clients, both individual and institutional, as the coronavirus outbreak spread.
He added that the outlook was negative for Poland’s banks in terms of demand for both deposits and loans, public broadcaster Polish Radio’s IAR news agency has reported.
The study was carried out from March 12 to 20, surveying 100 bank outlets nationwide.
