The Pengab index, which measures banking sentiment in the country, went up by 10.9 points to 24.4 in August, its highest level since October 2019, the Polish Bank Association (ZBP) and market researcher Kantar TNS have said in a joint report.
The rise in the index reflected a further increase in customer activity on the Polish market for banking services amid a decline in COVID-19 infections, according to the report.
Krzysztof Pietraszkiewicz, the head of the Polish Bank Association, was quoted as saying that bankers were especially optimistic about corporate deposits and household loans last month.
The study was carried out from August 5 to 23, surveying 92 bank outlets nationwide, state news agency PAP reported.
In April last year, banking sentiment in Poland tumbled to its lowest level on record during the coronavirus pandemic.
