Polish retail sales 2% up y/y in July: stats office

Retail sales in Poland went up by 2 percent in July at constant prices compared with the same month a year earlier, the country’s statistics office reported on Monday.

Sales of clothing and shoes increased 13.2 percent in Poland last month in year-on-year terms, and those of pharmaceuticals and cosmetics rose by 10.2 percent, the state-run Statistics Poland (GUS) agency said.

Meanwhile, sales of furniture, household appliances and consumer electronics decreased 5.3 percent, and those of motor vehicles went down by 15.1 percent, according to Statistics Poland.

In terms of current prices, retail sales last month were 18.4 percent higher than in July 2021, Statistics Poland said.

In month-on-month terms, retail sales in July were 1.2 percent higher than in June, the statistics office also reported.
