Home completions up 2.5% in Poland in first half of 2023: stats office

Builders in Poland completed 2.5 percent more homes in the first half of this year than in the same period in 2022, the country’s Central Statistical Office (GUS) has reported.

Around 111,900 housing units were completed nationwide between the start of January and the end of June, the office said on Thursday.

It added that the number of housing starts in January, February, March, April, May and June, at around 85,600 in total, was 28.5 percent lower than in the same period last year.

Meanwhile, overall output in Poland’s construction-and-assembly sector increased by 1.5 percent in June in year-on-year terms, while rising 7.6 percent month on month, the state-run statistics agency also reported.

Builders completed around 238,600 new homes in Poland last year, 1.7 percent more than in 2021, Statistics Poland estimated earlier this year.
